Home-owners again!

It’s official! As of today Stephen and I are home-owners again! We signed the title deed last Friday and today it recorded at City Hall! Yihaa!!!

Things went pretty fast in the last few weeks.
We had been thinking about buying our own home again here in San Francisco for a while now. So I started looking around to get a good feel for the market and for what was on offer. We were not in a hurry, but we were also ready to go for it should the opportunity present itself.

We knew which areas of the city were desirable and I started looking at properties (mainly lofts and some condominiums). We started working with a real estate agent, Jeremy (after submitting him to an interview) and a comfortable working-relation developed. I don’t know how many properties I saw, but it was a lot!

On March 15 I went on yet another broker’s tour with Jeremy (these tours were great: I got to see a lot of lofts in a short time) … and there it was .. a loft that kinda blew me away! Tri-level and over 1900 sqft. We arranged to see it again that evening, with Stephen this time, who also immediately loved it.

While waiting outside for the seller’s agent to arrive we actually met the sellers, Eric and Tracy (a lovely couple who are moving to Colorado for work – we have since been out to dinner with them) …. and the rest is history!

We made an offer on Friday March 18th; they accepted the next day.
From then till today we have been working on getting a mortgage and sorting out the tons and tons of paperwork associated with that.

We signed the Title Deed last Friday and today we ‘recorded’ with City Hall (which means it is now official).

We are moving into our new home this coming Saturday, April 16th!
