Weekend in Yosemite National Park

We set off from San Francisco around 4pm; got caught in a bit of traffic; stopped for dinner in our favorite stopover in Groveland and arrived at Yosemite Lodge around 9pm.

Although we booked very last minute (as usual) we were fortunate to get a room in Yosemite Lodge in the Park. All the previous times we visited YNP we stayed outside the Park.

On Saturday Stephen set off very early to climb Half Dome as part of the training for his upcoming trip to Antarctica. Caroline enjoyed breakfast in the food court of the Lodge and then walked around Yosemite Valley for about 4 hours.

Stephen made it back from Half Dome around 3pm. After relaxing and walking some more we went for an early dinner in the Mountain Room Restaurant at the Lodge.

On Sunday we enjoyed breakfast together and then drove to Glacier Point. That was a first for both of us.

We left the Park around 2:30pm; stopped for early dinner at our favorite stopover in Groveland and made it back home exactly at 7pm.

Yosemite was inscribed on the Unesco World Heritage list in 1984

  1. Prachtig!!! Geeft mij goesting om ook een tripje naar Yosemite te plannen… Stephen, I am dissappointed… No report re your bootcamp training day on the Dipsea trail in Marin??? :-((( Anyway, I am glad we found our way out! I heard a story of someone who got lost on that same trail and didn’t make it home till 2:00 in the morning…
