Europe July 2008

My summer trip to see family and friends in Belgium and London was this year enriched with a few sidetrips: Rome and Uppsala.

On July 10th I boarded a plane in SFO straight to Rome. I arrived there on July 11th within 30 minutes from Stefaan. Together we made our way to our lovely Hotel Giulio Cesare. We found it online and can recommend it. Once checked in we freshened up and were ready to go and explore Rome for the next 5 days.

We walked everywhere, which truly is the best way to discover this beatiful city. There is something to gaze at on every corner. Naturally we did all the touristy things and had yummy meals and nice wines. For me it was my first visit to Rome, for Stefaan it was his second. I was in awe over the Sistine Chapel, couldn’t get enough of the Colosseum, Forum Romanum, St. Peter’s Square and Basilica, the numerous fountains and squares,…

Here are impressions of Rome and The Vatican.

On July 16th we flew to Belgium. I spent 5 days in Eeklo en 3 days in Gent. The purpose of this part of my trip was catching up with family and friends. So it was also for my 3 days respectively in London and Uppsala.
I had my camera on me and at the ready most of the time, but not always, so for those friends I did see but are not featured in the album, I just didn’t take any photos at the time.
