Today was a big driving day for us and also the start of a three day holiday in China. We expected the roads to busy and they were. Fortunately much of the driving was on the expressway, and even better, there was no toll fee in effect. In fact there were no tolls for the entire three day holiday period. Excellent timing to make some serious distance!

Although the roads were fast, there were still accidents and roadworks to contend with, so we did not end up making as good time as we had hoped. This was our first day real out of the mountains since arriving in China and made us realize just how nice mountains are.

Massive tail-back on the other side of the road.
One of the many pit-stops along the way.
