Prestatyn – Starting point for Offa’s Dyke North to South

And so The Walk (take 2) begins.

I arrived at Prestatyn train station right on time at 16:23, after a surprisingly smooth trip all the way from Gent. Several trains were involved: Gent to Brussel-Zuid, Eurostar to London St Pancras, London Euston to Crewe, Crewe to Chester and finally Chester to Prestatyn. Upon arrival at the latter I opted for a short cab ride to Plas Ifan Guesthouse. I met my lovely hosts Swan and Malcolm and after a brief chat went for a stroll down High Street to the start of Offa’s Dyke Path, where I took some photos at the marker. I decided to have dinner in, so picked up some food at Marks and Spencer.

Plas Ifan is an old converted chapel, which has also served as a school, and has a lovely, quaint ambiance about it. My room was at back, next to the common atrium. There’s also a nice garden. The wifi was hit-and-miss: I did get intermittent connection on my phone but could not get connected on my laptop. Oh well.

I spent some time repacking my suitcase and preparing my day pack. I ordered breakfast for 7:30, and a packed lunch for the next day.

I hit the sheets around 9:30pm
