Hamiltonbukta and Magdalenefjorden

Sunday, August 12th, 2018

In the morning is went for a zodiac cruise and bird spotting along the coast of Hamilton Bay, Raudfjord. Of course, there was a glacier to check out as well.

In the afternoon we headed to Magdalenefjorden where we visited a former whaling station. Remains of the old blubber ovens were visible. We went for a stroll along the beach. And just then, a Beluga whale decided to breach just in front of us. Quite amazing. Although we only got to see a glimpse. During the return zodiac ride we stopped to inspect a beaten up old bearded seal and some terns. Spent some quality time watching Arctic Terns in flight as they fish for food. Also saw some type of spotted bird.
