Yosemite in the Rain

Weekend, December 7 to 9, 2019

We headed to Yosemite and were hoping for some snow. As we left San Francisco the roads were open and no restrictions. Snow was forecast and we did want to get there without having to put chains on. Turned out we needn’t have worried; we arrived in good time to a rather empty and cold campground. The Webasto heater kept us cozy and warm.

On Saturday we donned our gumboots and went for a nice walk to the Ahwahnee for a coffee. Good to see the dispute is over and the original names have returned. Also visited the Village and Ansel Adams Gallery. Stephen extended the hike to Yosemite Falls, looping back via Camp Curry; Caroline headed straight back. It basically rained the entire time we were there, but it was also very nice. We can happily live inside Molly when the weather is bad.

On Sunday we made a very leisurely drive back, via the 140 as the 120 had chain restrictions.
