Arrowtown

Tuesday, November 3, 2020

A very peaceful night sleep and a relaxing breakfast. But time to head to the historic Arrowtown, which was just down the road.

On arrival in the town we decided to check out the local “Holiday Park”, which is what New Zealanders call camping grounds. We decided to stay, allowing us to explore Arrowtown and also recharge the house batteries, top up water tanks and dump the toilet.

For lunch we had hot pies from the locally famous Arrowtown Bakery and Cafe. The local tourist office had recommended a walk to the top of German Hill. A nice 2 hour hike of which part of it shared with the Te Araroa trial. we will be back to do more walking in the future.

Wednesday, November 4th

Decided to stay another day in Arrowtown so we could spend the day following along the US elections. A slightly nail bitting event, but the day eventually finished with a likely positive result. And we celebrated with a little champagne.

During the day we wondered around the small historic village, including Chinese Camp and the war memorial.

Thursday, November 5th

Breakfast at Provisions of Arrowtown, before heading off and in the direction of Milford Sound.
